Nominations Open for the 2026 African Conservation Awards
The Game Rangers' Association of Africa (GRAA) is proud to announce that nominations are now open for the 2026 African Conservation Awards (ACAs), Africa's premier platform for recognising excellence in conservation and celebrating the extraordinary men and women who protect the continent's wildlife, wild places and coastal ecosystems.
Now in its 15th year, the ACAs remain unique in that they are by rangers, for rangers. The awards provide an opportunity for the conservation community to recognise those individuals and teams who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, courage, professionalism and impact in the field.
Supported by Awards Patron, Prince Albert II of Monaco, the awards honour achievements across four categories:
• Best Field Ranger
• Best Marine Ranger
• Best Ranger Team
• Best Ranger Supporter
At a time when increasing demands are being placed on rangers across Africa – from combating wildlife crime and managing human-wildlife conflict to responding to climate-related challenges and supporting communities – the importance of recognising their efforts has never been greater.
“Recognition matters. Rangers work in some of the world's most challenging environments, often making significant personal sacrifices in service of conservation. At a time when so much is being asked of rangers, it is more important than ever that we celebrate their achievements and acknowledge the critical role they play in safeguarding Africa's natural heritage. The African Conservation Awards provide a unique opportunity for rangers to recognise and honour each other – and us to recognise them!” said Louise de Bruin, CEO of the Game Rangers' Association of Africa.
The awards not only celebrate outstanding achievements but also help raise the profile of the ranger profession, inspiring future generations of conservation leaders and highlighting the vital contribution rangers make to the protection of biodiversity across Africa.
GRAA encourages conservation organisations, protected areas, government agencies, NGOs and individuals to submit nominations for deserving candidates and teams.
